Run with us Saturday, May 19, 2012
Cheyenne Mountain Zoo invites world class runners and families alike to join in the Run to the Shrine on Saturday, May 19, 2012. Both the 5K and the 10K options curve through the zoo and some of the most stunning mountain scenery this side of the Rockies. The races conclude with a party at The Lodge at Moose Lake!
A great opportunity for competitive racers, casual walkers, as well as families and children eager to show their enthusiasm for the zoo, the Run to the Shrine offers the coveted opportunity to traverse Shrine Road via foot, the only time of the year when foot traffic is allowed. Packet Pickup:
Pre-registered participants can pick up their race materials on event day. See location based on the event you are participating in.
- 10K - Packet pick-up Starting at 6:15am at the registration tent located near Mesa Avenue and Lake Circle. (north side of The Broadmoor Hotel)
- 5K - Starting at 7:30am at the mail-in/online tent located at the entrance to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo south parking lot.

PARKING
10K - Participants will park in The Broadmoor employee parking lot near the start line (free of charge). A complimentary shuttle will take participants from the admissions plaza of the zoo back to The Broadmoor lot after the race. The shuttle will run continuously from the zoo to the lot between 8am and noon.
5K - Participants will park at the zoo.

Presented between 9am and 10am at The Lodge at Moose Lake.

Rules, Regulations and FAQs
- Jog/run/walk participants will be timed individually based on participating age catagories.
- Only registered participants permitted on run course. If not registered for the run, regular zoo admission is required.
- How do I train for Run to the Shrine?
- From out of town? Visit our Stay and Play page.
- For the safety of all participants we do not allow skate boards, roller blades/inline skates/Heely’s®, bicycles or pets on the run course. Jogging strollers' are welcome for the 5K/10K – check FAQs for specific details.
- All fees are non-refundable.
- The race fee is not tax deductible, but any additional donations are tax deductible.
- Run t-shirts cannot be guaranteed to those who register on race day.

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo’s Run to the Shrine features a family-friendly 5K run/walk/stroll and a challenging 10K course. We want your organization to be a part of it! High visibility, low overhead and big fun are the three key elements every organization looks for when participating in an event and Run to the Shrine guarantees all three. Connect with the MOST POPULAR attraction in Colorado Springs!
We expect hundreds of participants, from elite runners to family joggers, for this one-of-a-kind event Saturday, May 19, 2012. The zoo invites you and your staff to participate in this year’s event by hosting an Exhibitor Station.

Volunteers Needed!
Adult volunteers are needed to ensure a safe and fun event for the participants and spectators. All volunteers will receive FREE zoo admission on Saturday, May 19, 2012, and a Run to the Shrine volunteer t-shirt. Please remember, you must be at least 18 years old to volunteer.
