Zoo Exceptions to Normal Hours & Special Notices
NOTE for Zoo Visits March 19-28: Avoid using Cresta Rd., south of W. Cheyenne Rd., to drive to/from the Zoo. Bridge maintenance by the City of Colorado Springs will narrow Cresta Rd. to an alternating one-lane road with flaggers, likely causing traffic delays. (End date is subject to weather delays.)
CONSTRUCTION UPDATES
- The next time you visit Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, you will see some changes to your admissions process. Zoo members and guests should watch for directional and instructional signs for the shift from our former admissions process to our new temporary process, now in effect. These changes are necessary to proceed to the next phase of construction, making way for an incredible new admissions experience, new giraffe barn, expanded giraffe yard and more. Read more about these changes here.
- We’re embarking on the expansion of African Rift Valley. Throughout progress, we’re committed to giving guests access to all of the animals they love by updating pathways. Guests and members can watch for signs on how to navigate through African Rift Valley to feed the giraffe herd and see Red River hogs, and visit lions, colobus monkeys and meerkats. CMZoo fans can learn more about the giraffe herd’s future home and consider supporting it at cmzoo.org/giraffeproject.
- There is a new vehicle entrance and road to drive to the Shrine of the Sun. Please watch for signage that will direct you to the new entrance archway in the southwest corner of the Zoo’s parking lot. (You no longer drive in through the gate next to Zoo Admissions.) Proof of Zoo daytime admission is still required to drive up to the Shrine. View details and map of new vehicle entrance
